Role purpose


  • Develops and implements procurement strategies for technology related services
  • Establishes and maintains regular and productive relationships with business stakeholders to achieve agreed business goals.
  • Develops and leads sourcing projects and cost optimization opportunities in line with the Category strategy.
  • Maximizes the use of tools, processes, policy setting and enforcement in alignment with the Category strategy to support the control of the spend.
  • Couch, guide and managed a Category Manager who will closely with the Senior Procurement Manager in order to successfully achieve the business goals and execution of the category strategy.
  • Ensures the effective procurement of products and services in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Develops and Implements the Category strategy, to control costs, time, promote competition and safeguard supply capacity, including suppliers consolidation opportunities, consistently with Group objectives and targets.
  • Manages engagements and collaborates with internal stakeholders to ensure Category and saving plans, budget assumptions are consistently reviewed and aligned and internal stakeholder expectations are met.
  • Develops and implements opportunity analysis and saving plans for the Category.
  • Assists with the management of Colt's procurement spend including all commercial and contractual aspects.
  • Manages tender processes from the specification stage to final contract award.
  • Following contract award, manages and leads the contract negotiation process to conclusion.
  • Develops and improves the procurement toolset, engagement model and service levels.
  • Ensures all the documentation relevant to sourcing activities is complete and available in Ariba (RFP, scoring tools and results, Signature Sheets, Contracts, SoWs)
  • Works with internal departments to expedite and resolve any procurement and contractual issues to minimise any project programme risks.
  • Develops and manages a governance/supplier relationship model for the key suppliers identified in the Category strategy.  
  • Develops a supply risk evaluation for the relevant Categories and includes it in the Category Plans.
  • Manages a Category Manager, setting directions and priorities, monitoring and improving performance, making sure personal development plans are prepared and executed.
  • Acts as a subject matter expert on specialist procurement issues.
  • Remains aware of best practice and procurement legislation ensuring these are adhered to.
  • Assist internal stakeholders in ad hoc procurement activities.
  • Solicits and evaluates competitive bids based on economies of scale, total cost of ownership, payment terms and currency options, commercial terms and conditions of supply.
  • Assist with the development of new processes, procedures and solutions for the purchasing system and identify any category specific requirements

  • Ability to be pragmatic and “think out of the box” in order to meet stakeholder expectations while remaining compliant.


Relationships and key contacts

  • The job holder has to create and maintain close relationships with CPO, Procurement Directors, Procurement Managers, Category Managers within the Procurement & Supply team.
  • The job holder has to create and maintain close relationships and collaborate with Business / Functions VPs, Directors and lead teams.
  • The job holder has to effectively interact with external suppliers / third parties to build and maintain business partnerships. 


Skills & Experience

  • Possesses proven in-depth Procurement management experience in Indirect/ Corporate Categories, with significant experience of applying these skills in an international environment through complex deals and contractual arrangements.
  • Relevant experience of dealing with pan-European/Global suppliers in a procurement, supply chain or commercial management.
  • Excellent English, both oral and written, is a pre-requisite; Japanese language would be advantageous.
  • Experience of vendor management/suppliers relationships management  processes and execution.
  • Proven ability to prioritise work and meet deadlines and to meet stakeholder expectations and “think out of the box”.
  • Good knowledge in Finance and Corporate Governance, Contract Law and negotiation experience with vendors/customers.
  • Good Knowledge of Procurement/Sourcing best practices and relevant systems / tools roll out and use..
  • Possesses excellent analytical, problem solving and interpersonal skills.

  • Educated to graduate level in a business related discipline
  • More than 5-7 years Procurement experience in the relevant domain in an international environment.
  • Japanese language skills (read and write) will be a major advantage.
