Job Title: Mechanical Design Engineer

Job Location: Colt House, London


The Role and Responsibilities:


  • Assisting senior mechanical engineers, with designs and implementation of technical solutions for critical infrastructure projects.
  • Supports the DCS technical and operational policies and practices for Technical Infrastructure system design.
  • Assisting in Route cause analysis reporting for major incidents.
  • Drive their own personal development to gain the right skills to develop in the role of mechanical engineer.


  • Provides technical design support to local operations teams for Mechanical and critical support systems across  Colts Telco and Data Centre estate.
  • Design and engineer systems related to the mechanical  and critical Infrastructure used to support  Colts Technical data centre infrastructure.
  • Develops expertise in best practices for mechanical designs.
  • Co-ordinates Technical Infrastructure suppliers (performance, supply and support).
  • Supports the technical and operational policy and practice for Technical Infrastructure systems.
  • Provides information/reference to the business on Technical Infrastructure safety-related matters.

Supports Sales and Operations activities requiring the involvement of Technical Infrastructure.


What you’ll need to succeed:


  • Some previous experience of working in a data centre in a design role would be an advantage.
  • 1 to 2 years mechanical design experience.
  • Experience of writing feasibility studies/design briefs/policy statements/guidance documents
  • Design experience with any of the following:
  • Generators.
  • Chillers.
  • CRACS.
  • Fire systems.
  • BMS.
  • Mechanical systems.
  • Knowledge of various energy saving techniques. Construction/Commissioning experience
