Head of Internal Communications

Role purpose

  • This role is fundamental in driving the successful delivery of Colt’s strategy. You will manage the global internal communications team, delivering measurable impact in helping our people understand the part they play in the business strategy. In addition you will the communication of HR initiatives and programmes out to the business, working with and advising the HR Leadership team to build a consistent narrative around our culture
  • In addition to being a key enabler of our strategy the internal communications team directly impacts our fostering of an inclusive, transparent and engaged workforce through a clearly defined creative communication strategy. Put simply, you and your team will love to communicate and bring colleagues along on a journey.


Key Accountabilities

  • Understand the Colt strategy and develop an effective communication strategy to support this strategy.
  • Support the wider business with a high performing team of creative communicators who help delivers tangible results.
  • Build exceptional, trusting and highly effective relationships with senior leadership team.
  • Keep the pulse of employee engagement strong and encourage an open environment where every Coltie is a communicator.
  • Ensure that internal communications is aligned with wider corporate and external communications programmes and with the company’s brand, purpose and tone of voice.
  • Develop and implement an annual communications plan that supports the strategic priorities.
  • Develop and drive initiatives to promote Colt’s growth strategy of becoming not only the most customer oriented business in the industry, but the leading provider of high bandwidth services for enterprises and wholesale in Europe and Asia’s largest business hubs.
  • Develop and drive initiatives to promote our challenger culture
  • Ensure regular flow of communications across our business
  • Develop and manage the internal communications channels across Colt to enable the delivery of the right messages, to the right audiences, at the right time in the right way
  • Encourage a culture of two-way internal communication and share best practice within the internal communication business partner team
  • Develop creative Colt-wide campaigns, which foster collaboration across borders.



Key Performance Indicators

  • Experience of working within a communications team is preferable.
  • Knowledge of key communication channels and content development, including intranet, film and digital
  • Exceptional written and editing ability
  • Ability to develop compelling, relevant content
  • Strong creative and entrepreneurial spirit
  • Exceptional planning and organisation skills
  • Up to date content – ensure regular reviews and all material is current
  • Fluency in English with an additional European language an advantage
